Eating and drinking at the Zollhoes
More than 60 years later, the frontier office annexed to the Zollhoes in the early 1960s has been transformed into a charming restaurant with room for about 20 people.
Since April 2023, you can enjoy lunch and dinner at the Zollhoes restaurant. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Job is cooking delicious food and Jolanda is your hostess in the small intimate restaurant. Taste our home-made dishes and the informal atmosphere, feel at home and enjoy!
The cuisine is diverse with classic but also adventurous dishes. We like to push the boundaries and our inspiration is drawn from former travels and curiosity about other food cultures. A pork tenderloin with apricot sauce or an Indian lamb curry, a small Indonesian rice table or a delicious Sicilian caponata, as long as it is tasty and authentic! Of course, we work with the best products. That is why we specially source our beef from Friesland, because we think the tastiest meat comes from butcher/slaughterer Menno Hoekstra in Anjum. The entrecotes and tenderloins from cows that have walked the Frisian land near the Wadden coast are second to none. And the same goes for the lamb! We also always have surprisingly creative vegetarian dishes.
Every month, we serve a new monthly menu. A small menu but something for everyone. The small Indian rice table (Harry’s dish, also in a vegetarian variant) is a keeper but we always have a special outside the menu as well. Enough choice for a lovely cosy evening at the Zollhoes.
This special restaurant, two steps over the border, is also very suitable for smaller groups, private dinners, team outings, etc. Enquire about the possibilities in this area (also outside regular opening hours) and let us think along with you about how to spend a culinary and convivial time in the Zollhoes.

Our menu
Het Zollhoes serves a new monthly menu every month. This allows us to make optimal use of what the season has to offer and encourages us to create creative dishes.
The menu consists of:
- 2 or 3 starters
- 2 soups
- 3 main dishes, a changing special and Harry’s dish
- 2 desserts
Besides the menu, we always serve Job’s signature dish ‘Harry’s dish’; a small Indonesian rice table. No longer missing from our menu and not only Harry’s favourite. This dish consists of 2 alternating meat and/or poultry dishes, a vegetable dish and atjar, served with rice and small side dishes.
Every now and then, we organise special culinary evenings where we serve delicious menus based on a theme. Via facebook and Insta, we announce these evenings and announce the menus.
In our restaurant, we take great care with the fresh preparation of our products. It goes without saying that all soups, sauces, spice mixtures, etc. are homemade. And you can taste that!
